Situated at the southern end of the San Joaquin Valley and in the shadow of the Sierra Nevada and Tehachapi Mountains, Bakersfield is a bustling community that enjoys the most number of clear days in the United States, averaging 191days annually. Bakersfield’s historic and primary industries have related to Kern County’s two main industries: oil and agriculture. Kern County is the most oil-productive county in the United States, with approximately 10% of the nation’s domestic production, and it is one of the top five most productive agricultural counties in the nation. Healthcare, distribution, and manufacturing all contribute to Bakersfield’s tremendous growth in the past ten years. Bakersfield is a town that loves its hot rods and country music.
