Kenton Koszdin

ABOUT

After graduation from California State University, Northridge, Kenton worked as a Certified Public Accountant performing audits, compilations, write up work, and preparing financial statements, corporate, partnership, and individual tax returns for high-net-worth individuals in the Garment and Real Estate Industries.

After Law School, Kenton began his legal career at the Law Offices of Koszdin, Fields & Sherry representing workers’ compensation applicants.

Two years later, Kenton started his own law office where he represented hundreds of applicants and social security claimants. Kenton was recognized as a rising star attorney in the field of workers’ compensation by Super Lawyers Magazine in 2005 and 2006.

Kenton was the applicant attorney in the case of The Limited, Gallagher Bassett Services, Petitioner v. Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board, Daphne Dewey, Respondents, 2012 Cal. Wrk. Comp. LEXIS 136 cited in various workers’ compensation treatise and workers’ compensation cases confirming that permanent disability ratings under the 2005 PDRS are still rebuttable using vocational evidence. This case was the first DFEC case tried using live vocational testimony in the State of California.

Kenton has tried hundreds of workers’ compensation cases and prepared Petitions for Reconsideration and replied to Petitions for Writ of Review to the California Court of Appeals. Kenton also has experience in cross examination of QME’s and AME’s.

In addition, Kenton represented hundreds of social security disability claimants before the Office of Hearings Operations and Appeals Council where he gained in experience in the of cross examination of medical and vocation experts as well as a obtaining a broad range of medical knowledge from reviewing thousands of pages of medical records to prepare to argue the medical evidence. Kenton also has in depth knowledge of the Dictionary of Occupation Titles (DOT) and Selected Characteristics of Occupations (SCO) which is useful in identifying cases that are possible 100% total disability cases under California workers’ compensation law and cross examination of vocational experts. These two publications, DOT and SCO, are relied upon by vocational experts in California workers’ compensation cases.

Kenton also represented criminal defendants where he obtained jury trial experience which gave him an additional perspective on how to present cases at trial.

In his spare time, Kenton enjoys spending time with his two dogs, a pug, and a French bulldog.
