Antonia Carney

ABOUT

Antonia B. Carney is a senior attorney in our San Diego office and a California State Bar Certified Workers’ Compensation Legal Specialist. She graduated from the California University San Bernardino, San Bernardino, CA with a degree in Political Science.  In 2001, she was admitted to the California State Bar after obtaining her Juris Doctor from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, where she graduated Cum Laude.

Antonia has experience in the defense of medical-malpractice, toxic torts, and construction defect claims but continually returned to workers’ compensation defense; where she is meant to be. She has been the solo workers’ compensation expert at an 800 attorney international litigation firm, has worked at other well-known workers’ compensation defense firms, but has now joined the firm where she is meant to be; Hanna Brophy. She joined Hanna Brophy in June 2023. She defends insurance carriers and self-insured employers in all areas of workers’ compensation with a direct relationship with her clients and employers with a constant round-table of ideas.  She specializes in defending municipalities including defense of presumption claims of firefighters and police officers, school districts with special issues regarding the education code, and health care professionals.

Antonia will be presenting at the 2024 Annual California Orthopedic Association, training physicians regarding causation and apportionment for their Panel Qualified Medical Evaluator reports. Antonia has presented in the past to various clients regarding the complex issues in workers’ compensation.
