Redding office picture

Located in the shadow of Mt. Shasta and downstream from Shasta Dam, the City of Redding is Shasta County’s seat and center of economic activity. The city is surrounded by mountains to the north, east, and west as well as fertile farm land to the south. Redding's economy is built around medical, legal, retail ,and tourism services. Redding’s history goes as far back as the year 1,000 C.E., when the land was inhabited by the Native American Wintu tribe. Part of the Siskiyou Trail is found here, which acted as a trade and travel route between California's Central Valley and the Pacific Northwest and was used by Hudson Bay Company in the early 19th century. California's largest river, the Sacramento River, also passes through Redding.
